Request an absentee ballot by 2 p.m. Saturday (or an emergency ballot after then)

Last minute plans taking you away from your polling place on Tuesday?

Whatever you do, don't miss out on your chance to vote in this critical election. You can still request an absentee ballot!

Just fill out an Absent Voter Ballot Application and get it to your local clerk's office by 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Yes, that's tomorrow. So don't delay. Make the quick trip to your clerk's office now to ensure your voice is heard on Tuesday!

What happens if an emergency comes up after 2 p.m. on Saturday? Just follow the emergency absentee ballot guidelines from the Secretary of State's Web site:

You may make an "emergency" request for an absentee ballot if you cannot attend the polls because of:

  • personal injury or illness
  • a family death or illness that requires you to leave your community for the entire time the polls are open on election day

The emergency must have occurred late enough that you could not file for a regular absentee voter ballot. If you are requesting an emergency absentee ballot, you may have someone deliver your written request for the ballot to your city or township clerk's office before 4 p.m. on election day.

Emergency ballots must be returned to the clerk's office by 8 p.m. on election day.
